Experience

Susan is a clinically licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Kansas and California specializing in providing trauma-informed therapy services to children, individuals, couples and families. She received her Master’s of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from California State University – Dominguez Hills. Starting in 2007, she has obtained extensive experience working with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families in community mental health and private practice settings. Susan also enjoys supervising and mentoring other clinicians and has been an MFT supervisor since 2015. Additionally, Susan is a KSBSRB Board Approved Clinical Supervisor.

She is a Trauma Focused-CBT certified supervisor and also trained in EMDR, Child-Parent Psychotherapy, MAP, Seeking Safety and AFCBT evidenced-based practice therapy models. Her areas of specialty include: working with Military families, adoptive/foster families, individuals and couples dealing with fertility issues, infant and early childhood mental health,  breast cancer patients and survivors, life transitions, interpersonal relationships and trauma/PTSD. Susan is also a Certified Infant Massage Parent Educator.

She works from an attachment-based and family systems approach to assist individuals, couples and families in increasing their awareness and understanding of past experiences and their impact on current relationships.  Furthermore, she utilizes mindfulness and client-centered techniques to empower individuals, couples and families to reach their full potential.  Animal Assisted Therapy sessions with Therapy Dog, Jackson are also available and facilitated by Susan.
